I am a sandwich Eater and I am a New Yorker.
Whenever there is a national holiday, I definitely try and take advantage of the quiet that befalls New York City.
Particularly I make use of this time by hitting up the spots that are usually hard to get into or always has a wait. Alidoro is one of those spots.
Alidoro is an Italian specialty Sandwich shop. First established in the mid 1980’s with three New York City locations.
One location in Soho which is their flagship store in addition they also have locations in Rockefeller Center and Midtown.
The owners of Alidoro clearly pride themselves on using fresh ingredients and fresh baked breads.

Most noteworthy, their baked breads are made fresh daily from various local shops around the city.
The sandwich meats like their Prosciutto and Sopressata are imported from different vendors.
When you first walk into Alidoro’s midtown location you are greeted by high ceilings and a pretty impressive space.
The sandwich menus are displayed high on the walls, therefore making it a bit difficult to read. But thankfully there are also paper menus displayed around the restaurant.
There are a plenty of sandwiches to choose from as Alidoro offers forty different kinds of sandwiches. You have the option of getting your sandwich prepared hot or cold.
After mulling over the menu I decided to go with their *Pinocchio* sandwich.
The Pinocchio is a combination of Prosciutto, Sopressata, Fresh Mozzarella, Sweet Roasted Peppers, Olive Paste on your bread of choice.

For my bread selection I went with the ciabatta bread which was absolutely delicious. The bread was so soft and moist you could just taste the freshness.
This sandwich was enormous! Because of this, I was able to get two sandwiches out of it. SCORE!
My only complaint was that the combination of the Prosciutto & Sopressata with its high sodium content, seemed to over-power the flavors of the Fresh Mozzarella and Sweet Roasted Peppers.
However, I think it could have been the way I ordered it.
I initially ordered my sandwich cold. I ate one half for lunch and the other half for dinner. For dinner I heated the other half up in the toaster oven and as a result the flavors exploded.
In Conclusion, my one piece of advice is that if your ordering this sandwich I would suggest you get it HOT! HOT!HOT!
