On my most recent trip to Poughkeepsie-NY- I discovered Brasserie 292 after a quick Yelp search.
Brasserie 292 combines the old-world charm of Poughkeepsie’s historic Main Street district with a timeless, classic Brasserie fare.
The reviews were pretty good for the most part so I decided to check this restaurant out.
It should be noted that my visit was on a Sunday afternoon.
The restaurant was not overly crowded but I did have prior reservations.
I really liked the décor of the restaurant, apparently it is a restored storefront.
Once I got there I let the hostess know I had arrived for my reservation.
And I was immediately seated in the back of the restaurant.
Admittedly I was extremely pissed off about that.
Especially since there were tons of open seats in the front of the restaurant!
So after asking our hostess for a better seat we sat down to order our meal.
Now lets talk food.
Firstly I started off with some cocktails.

Next it was time for the appetizers.
FRIED OYSTERS
Classic Celeriac Remoulade, Harissa Aioli

Let me just say that these Fried Oysters were absolutely exquisite!
After that the waiter brought out our entrees.
For starters I had the Shrimp Provencal.
SHRIMP PROVENCAL
Sautéed With Olive Oil, Toasted Garlic, Oven-Roasted Tomatoes, Espellette Pepper, White Beans, Fresh Herbs, House-Made Cavatelli, Baby Spinach

Positively scrumptious, the fresh herbs along with the white beans just perfection really.
Following that I had our side dish which I ordered to compliment my entrée.
FRICASSÉE OF WILD MUSHROOMS
My entrée & side dish were delicious just like my appetizer.
Everything was prepared to perfection!
I really enjoyed my meal I must say!
With that being said there was still room and time for Dessert.
Of course I wanted to order everything on the dessert menu.
However I did decide to order two desserts from the menu.
I decided to go with the Warm Beignets & Profiteroles.

And so I ended my night with dessert and a nice hot Cappuccino.
Unquestionably the owners of this establishment take food and the culinary arts seriously .
I really wanted to wanted to give this restaurant a top rating because of their amazing food.
However their customer service was just awful.
To sum things up although I did enjoy my meal here I cannot give this restaurant five stars.
