So now that fall is slowly creeping in here on the East Coast.
I had to talk about one of my favorite things I did this Summer.
I took a trip to the South East city of New Orleans.
In fact I hadn’t been to New Orleans in over ten years.
NOLA short for New Orleans is one of the best cities in the country to visit.
With a deep Creole Culture and steeped in history Nola is a food lover’s paradise.
And after the horrific events that took place because of Hurricane Katrina.
I was happy to see that the city of New Orleans had come back bigger and better than ever!
One of the main reasons I went to Nola this summer was to attend the Tales of Cocktails event.
Undoubtedly I did a lot of Cocktail tasting but I also did a whole lot of eating !
The first spot I hit up was a brunch spot called Zesty Creole.

“Welcome to Zesty Creole, where we bring the flavors of New Orleans to your plate!”

As you can see the restaurant is a pretty decent size with a nice bar in the back.

So Now Lets Talk Food!

Firstly, I started off with a nice tall glass of their Orange Juice.
Particularly because It was a little to early for drinks yet.

Next the server brought out our appetizer which was their Crawfish Hushpuppies.
Crawfish Hushpuppies
$12.75
Traditional New Orleans Style Fritters made with Crawfish and served with Remoulade sauce

While I did enjoy my Crawfish Hushpuppies I wasn’t completely blown away.
Following that it was time to dig into our Brunch entrees.
To start I had the two Crab Cakes Benedict plate.
Crab Cakes Benedict
$18.50
Two crab cakes served on a toasted English muffin, topped with perfectly poached eggs and finished with rich and creamy Hollandaise sauce. Sprinkle fresh green onions on top

Also pretty flavorful but again nothing to special about this dish.
Last but not least It was time to dig into my Shrimp & Grits entree.
Shrimp & Grits
$19.25
Cheese grits topped with grilled shrimp and creole sauce, served with a fresh buttermilk biscuit | Add Fried or Grilled Catfish for $5.00, Add Two Eggs for $2.99

Similarly to the other dishes unfortunately my Shrimp & Grits missed the mark.
