Mojo Mousse Bar is Magic on a spoon!

Sweet Belgian treats in East Harlem at Mojo Desserts.

Mojoโ€”a short cut for Mousse by Johanโ€”brings the magic of the old times and it is in this spirit, that today i invite you to have a taste of my childhood,

Mojo Mousse Bar first opened their doors back in February of 2020.

And after a few slow years due to the global pandemic Mojo as well as the connecting Bar Goyana is back in full force and thriving.

I had a chance to meet chef Johan Halsberghe the day I visited.

I asked him what made him and his wife choose East Harlem as the location for both of their restaurant’s.

He exclaimed being a local himself they both really just love the neighborhood.

it makes me so happy to see it becoming not only a neighborhood favorite but also a tourist destination for mousse lovers from all over the world.

And that sense of neighborhood can certainly be felt at the mousse bar.

As soon as you walk in you get a sense of warmth and community.

The space here is very welcoming and inviting for folks of all ages.

INDOOR SEATING AREA

One piece of wall art really caught my attention.

Namely the Golden Spoon prominently displayed on the wall.

And there is a pretty cool and interesting story behind it.

Legend has it.

In Belgium, there’s a story that when you die and go to heaven you will be eating dessert with a golden spoon every single day for all eternity.

Now lets talk mousse.

MOUSSE BAR

There is currently five mousse flavors available at the mousse bar.

We make artisanal mousses in small batches using the finest Belgian chocolate and premium ingredients.

  • DARK 70%
  • HAZELNUT PRALINE
  • WHITE CHOCOLATE
  • PASSION FRUIT RUBY
  • MATCHA JAPANESE

It should be noted that the Mousse here is a made fresh daily.

So I actually had a chance to try all five flavors and the Hazelnut Praline and White Chocolate were my absolute favorite.

These two flavors’ were so light and creamy that they literally melt in your mouth.

Conversely I must say that my two least favorite flavor’s were.

  • PASSION FRUIT RUBY
  • MATCHA JAPANESE

Because I love Matcha Japanese so much I was really disappointed that the flavor didn’t come through in the mousse.

As for the Passion Fruit Ruby it was way to tart for my liking.

In conclusion if you are looking for some magic on a spoon run don’t walk to Mojo Desserts.
